A console table, also known as a sofa table, is an accent furniture piece mainly used in the living room or hallway that could be both functional and decorative. The main feature of the console table is how narrow and long it looks, sometimes even providing storage space for you. Everly Console Table by Caracole
There are many things to consider before getting the console table to fill the empty space in your house.
1. Dimensions
Firstly, the dimensions of the available space where your console table will go. It has to be placed in a space that makes sense and not be a hazard to the floor traffic. Console tables are usually placed against a corridor of the hallway or the back of the sofa.
2. Style
Once you’ve decided the placement and size, it’s time to choose the style, colour, material and functionality of the console table and ensure that it’ll complement the area it’ll be placed in.
For example, if your house is Teak Inspired, some questions to think about would be: Does the area have other teak furniture and if so, will getting a teak console table be too much? Is the area filled with dark colours and if so, should you get something lighter to contrast against it? Will you need to use the console table as a storage space or will it just be for decorative purpose?

3. Desired message to bring across
It also depends on what the message you want to bring across, different console tables may “speak” differently. From wooden console tables that bring the homeowners one step closer to nature, to bold golden console tables, making a grand statement in the house, to even simple and elegant console tables that add a touch of sophistication to your humble home.

4. Colour
The colour you pick is another important factor to consider when buying the console table. Having a simple glass console table, as seen above, with its metal frame and honey-combed motif, helps brighten your living room space while adding a touch of elegance to it. The console table also does not overpower the sofa behind but enhances the overall chicness of the living room.

5. Decorating the surrounding of your console table
Once you’ve picked the perfect console table for yourself, it’s time to think of how to decorate it so that it blends in well with its surrounding area. What we usually do with the console table is to place a vase, pictures or even a mirror to give your home a lived-in and welcoming feel to it.
